TRAVEL DIARIES: ALFRISTON, ENGLAND

I have an unexpected day off today. So I am pretty much running errands and organizing my home office. I have hundreds of patients files to sort through, and trying to stay calm as I do it, because I will feel much better once it is all done! But doing all of this mundane stuff reminded me what I used to do on my days off in England.
It usually involved a train ride to the Oxford street, oh how I desperately miss those days!! But once in a while my colleagues and I would go around to the nearest towns. Alfriston is one of those towns,  a village actually. Funny, I never hear that word in Canada. But, what a pretty little village it is! So charming and oh so English! Okay, me back to my errands, I hope you enjoy a little escape to English south side.

TRAVEL DIARIES: : COLOUR-BLOCKED LISBON

As promised yesterday, nothing but colour! I took these pictures a while back during my trip to Lisbon, Portugal. I loved the famous tile facades but it was by luck I spotted these gorgeous buildings. It was in the area of Belem, famous for the Belem cafe, the University, museums, piers and of course the Belem Tower. We we walking along Av. India when I saw all these colours and as usual ran towards them with my camera. I couldn't believe the beauty and I love when people are daring enough to choose bold colours. Can you imagine blue, pink, purple, orange and mixed with natural greens..what a stunning view. I have to be honest though I never did find out what these buildings were but I did bring back a little part of Belem with me.

Pictures below are from a resting station from our bus ride from Lisbon to Seville. I couldn't believe this was a real place. Gorgeous spring sunlight, and crisp colours of the station, it seemed a like a movie set.

A lilac Hotel. Enough said. These pictures remind me of "The Grand Budapest Hotel". What a lovely thought that these stunning buildings do exist outside of  the Hollywood sets.

TRAVEL DIARIES: ENGLISH LANDSCAPE/SUSSEX

It seems it has been a while since I have posted any travel photos, so I decided to revisit England. Normally very gloomy but I did live by the south coast for about a year and managed to score some lovely days! So here I share with you the sunny side of England.

Eastbourne Beachy Head

The Beachy Head hike is a must if you are ever down south, on a lovely day many people take a long walk (uphill) to admire the chalky cliffs

Eastbourne Beachy Head
Around the "Downs" a lovely peaceful windey road

The English Channel on a beautiful clear day, seen from "The Beachy Head"

The Downs
Well it wasn't sunny everyday.. But even on a cloudy day the views were quite spectacular!

The Downs
This picture was taken near the town of Alfriston, I will do another post on it. Honestly the most cutest town I have ever seen!

Another curvy road going through the Downs, I do miss the train rides there, I could stare out the window for hours

Eastbourne
I will leave you with the view I was most familiar with, and one of my favorites. Not always as warm as I liked but sitting by the beach on a Sunday afternoon was one of my favorite things to do while living in the South. No wonder people move there to retire!

TRAVEL DIARIES: LONDON, ENGLAND

It is pretty gloomy here today in Toronto, kind of reminds me of the time I was in the UK. I have been back for over 4 years but every time I see grey clouds, it takes me right back to England. But it wasn't always gloomy, clouds have their own charm. And if you get lucky you might get some amazing shots.

The London Eye
This picture of the London Eye is one of my favorites. I love all the different layers in the the architecture and the light. I happened to be walking to the Buckingham palace from the Trafalgar square, when suddenly I got a little glimpse of this beautiful light on the London Eye and I pretty much ran towards it. I am so glad I did because I only had a few minutes to capture this shot! It had been a very cloudy, windy spring day, but just around sunset the clouds broke a little and sun came shining in, illuminating the whole skyline against the background of dark grey clouds. I still see evenings like this in here Canada, especially after all the thunderstorms we get in the summer, but nothing like capturing one of the most iconic features of London in this setting.

London
From the same evening I beleive, hustle and bustle of London. I love that city! There is so much to explore just walking around.

The London Eye
I am so jealous of people who get to live right on the Thames River. I would never get tired of this view

The London Eye
Even the light fixtures are so charming in London

Big Ben
You can't capture London without capturing the Big Ben, well at least the tower that holds it
The Buckingham Palace
Oh you know, just casually hanging at the Palace

TRAVEL DIARIES: EIFFEL TOWER

I visited the Eiffel Tower during spring, it is the most beautiful time to see Paris. With clouds adding a whole new depth to pictures, and beautiful sunset lighting up the Eiffel Tower. Here are some of my favorite picture of Eiffel Tower.
