My Favourite Fragrances

Today I give you some of my favorite perfumes. Up until this year I was never really been into perfumes. Only perfume I ever used was Clinique "Happy", only because I recieved a sample of it about 15 years ago. It is just a unique fragrance I fell in love it right away and I still love it. After "Happy", I tried "Happy Heart". The more floral fragrance and well that's about it...until this year! I seemed to have fallen in love with perfumes.
I dress mostly in black but I love all things feminine. The smell of flowers, pretty pink hues, I give you my favorite feminine perfumes.

First, my husband got me subtle floral fragrance from Coach (he knows me so well!), then I tried the Dior Blooming Bouquet and I simply had to have it! The color, the packaging, the essence of spring in a bottle..I couldn't resist! Being in love with Baies (candle) by Diptyque, it only makes sense that I would fall in love with L'Ombre dans l'Eau..it is the most intoxicating fragrance, yet so natural. It is as if I walked in the most beautiful gardens in Paris. Sticking to my floral obsession I love the Roses et Reines by L'Occtaine. The vintage feel of the bottle is what drove me to try it, and subtle mix of roses is as girly as you get. Last but not the least, Jo Malone Peony & Blush suede. The sweet peony smell is long lasting and I get so many compliments every time I use it! I bought a smaller size just so I could throw it in my purse and always have it with me!

DIY: CREATE YOUR OWN WALL ART FOR GALLERY WALL

I have been seeing a lot of prints everywhere, especially with the popularity of the "Gallery Walls". A good gallery wall is a combination of art and photography, and even some fun quotes. Not wanting to purchase yet another print I decided to get a little creative and made my own art!

Now it is NO secret that I love Diptyque. I have stumbled upon some diptyque candle prints online, some on sale and some people have done just for fun. So I decided to give it a shot, and here it goes step by step!

Materials:
1. Blanks piece of Paper(s), depends how many you want to do
2. Pencil
3. Fine Black Artist's Pen (I got mine from Chapters Indigo on sale!)
4. Diptyque candle votive (optional)- instructions below

Now place the piece of paper on the candle and simply trace out the pattern. This can be a little tricky so do it lightly with a pencil, and then refine with the Artist's Pen later.

However, if you don't have a diptyque candle (because well they are a kind of expensive) you don't have to go buy one, follow the instructions below:

1. Simply Google "dyptique candles", or click Here
2. Click on the candle you like
3. Trace the outline from the screen!
4. Remember to trace the glass outline and the candle inside

Once you have the rough outline of the candle, darken it with the Pen

Fill in the details and embellish the letters. I went for the rough look, but you can make it sleek and polished, and voila! How easy is that!

Once you are done one, it is so much easier to the rest, because now you just have to trace the paper. Or better yet, you can photocopy the pattern and write in the name of the candle later, saves you so much time, and gives it a dark professional looks.
Here is the final product. DIYs for beginners like me :)

Pretty little things..

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I, as I predicted on Friday, had a busy one! But all is calm again and I share with you my latest experiment. I have always loved pink, but kind of kept it a secret. I don't wear much pink and there is no pink around the house either, but with all things spring I feel I can get away with immersing myself in Pink without being called "girly". This gives me chance to openly display my love for this colour and it feels great!

spring time
I am a tea addict, and I am always looking for ways to make it as pretty as I can. I mean why not right, this is one moment I have to myself and I want to make it as pleasing to my eye as possible..so of course I would do it with a lot of Pink!

paris and all things pink
My husband laughed when I told him that I bought "Pink Himalayan Salt"..to be honest more for the colour than anything! It is the prettiest shade of blush. It does come ground up or in solid form seen above. And best of all, it comes with the cutest little grater to grind the solid chunks!

This beautiful flower is actually the lid to the a lovely candle I bought from Anthropologie. Not only it smells heavenly but once the candle has run out, you are left with a blush and white ceramic container..win win!

If you asked me to pick my favorite item from the picture above, I really couldn't tell you..I am totally in love with all of them..

So here it..my girliest shoot yet and I love it! It is difficult as we try to be everything at once, and try to make things "others" will approve but it is nice to be honest with yourself sometimes so you can get true joy out of things you really love.

Spot the difference: Blooms and Pretty things

It's a pretty gloomy day here in Toronto today. I normally try to make the most of my Mondays because that is one day I get to myself, but today has been a struggle to even get out of bed. I am feeling lazy and just want to catch up on my tv shows. So it's fitting that I give you one of my gloomier shoots. I love the dark mood in this shoot, yet it is all very pretty. I have been experimenting with different backgrounds lately, I must say black is not very popular when it comes to shooting florals but it creates drama like no other.

Can you spot the difference ;)

I was playing around with brightness post shoot, and noticed how both pictures had completely different mood simply because of increased brightness in the second one. But I absolutely love the first one, the flowers almost look like a Renaissance painting.

This is from last week, but I wanted to add it as another example of dark background

So here we go folks, I promise a much more cheerful post for tomorrow..nothing but colour in sight!

Sunday Roses..

Hope you are having a lovely Sunday..

I have been working all weekend, finally got some time to relax. I was saving this shoot pictures for next week but what better way to enjoy you Sunday looking at pretty things! I am definitely going through a Rose phase, they are so pretty and are for sure helping me get through this brutal winter of ours. I loved this unique colour of roses, not very traditional but subtly beautiful indeed. Anyway...enjoy :)

All things Pretty: Happy Valentine's day

I originally had no post created for Valentine's day, but then I got these beautiful Coral roses! How gorgeous are these, I had to display them right away and something this pretty needs to be photographed! I admit I went a little nuts but these flowers make me ralize I should have roses at my house ALL the time. I smile every time I look at them, needless to say I have been admiring them all day!
