MY WEEK ON INSTAGRAM 02.22.2015

This week on @Navkbrarblog instagram
Another cold week here in Toronto, but I managed to find a little sign of spring in my supermarket which was filled with tulips! Then, I realized we were amidst a snow storm and got myself a espresso and called it a day!
Dealing with all this cold weather makes me want to take a mini vacay somewhere warm so I decided to start a brand new Travel Series on the blog to share my travels, and give you easy insider tips!
Andd.. I did some spring time shopping for the home and got myself some pretty mint coloured bake-ware!

FLOWERS IN A BAG!

Talk about an obvious title, it made me laugh a little. But in all seriousness how cool is this idea! I have seen pictures on Pinterest and Instragram of peonies in Chanel bags and how cool does that look! I really wanted to try something like that once I saw the illustration below from Megan Hess's book,  Fashion House.

So anyway not much to explain here guys, get some cute faux or real flowers, in a small or medium size vase. I found these cute popcorn bags in chic black and white stripes at Homesense, and well place the flowers in the bag! Done! Super cute, and this decor idea would be a hit any party too!
(I have a much prettier blog post coming up with this idea so stay tuned!!)

SILVER LININGS..

Funny, I started this blog in the middle of winter, right after the big Ice Storm of Toronto. Which was a total nightmare to be honest, and here we stand 5 months later finally experiencing some much needed change in the weather. When I started my blog, I figured I would talk about my travels and share my love for Home decor, but this past winter changed everything! Having nothing pretty or scenic to photograph outside (I mean how many diff ways can I photograph snow?).. I don't live Downtown or next to the lake so scenery around me is pretty bland, which lead me to create beauty around me, hence all the "pretty" posts. I must say if this winter wasn't so brutal I wouldn't have bothered learning "indoor" photography, which is a challenge like no other. It seems there is never enough light no matter how many windows you have. Having to shoot at optimal hours is also a must. But anyway, I am thankful to the winter of 2014 as it taught me a whole new skill, but I am also not sad to see it go because these beautiful Magnolia Blossoms will always win my heart! I will carry on with my "Pretty" posts, but here I share with you Spring in Toronto!

Move Over Diptyque

First of all, another apology for disappearing again! There seems to be a lot going on in my personal life (good things..thankfully) but it's had completely derailed my blogging schedule. I know I probably won't be able to blog as often but I will surely make time to at least post a few times in a week.

Okay soo, I have recently fell in love with peonies. They looks so efforlessly chic! I mean they are not prissy, they are not overly elegant, they are so relaxed looking looking flowers as if they know they are beautiful and they don't even have to try!
peonies {one of our favorites}

Well being in suburban GTA (Toronto area), it is kind of hard to find these beauties! Luckily there is abundance of them in some of the downtown shops so I can always make a trip and grab a bunch. But what I love even more than the flower itself is its most amazing smell!  These was a flower back in India which had a very similar smell to Peony, so naturally this takes me back to my childhood days and makes me love this flower even more. So you can imagine my excitement when I found this lovely Peony fragrance candle I found at Indigo!

And can I just say, I am in LOVE!! Not only does it smell  heavenly, but it fills up the whole house! I have spent money on a lot of candles, and well other than Diptyque they have generally been a disappointment. So I am absolutely thrilled that I can actually a candle that actually delivers!
It also comes in 3 other sizes, ranging from $8 to $24 (for the large one!) - and they are on sale right now for 25% off!

As much as I love Diptyque, my wallet is definitely thanking me for finding this box of happiness!
There are 4 other fragrances. All of them smell so beautiful...I hope to try them all, but thank you Indigo for packing my childhood into a sweet little package.

Spot the difference: Blooms and Pretty things

It's a pretty gloomy day here in Toronto today. I normally try to make the most of my Mondays because that is one day I get to myself, but today has been a struggle to even get out of bed. I am feeling lazy and just want to catch up on my tv shows. So it's fitting that I give you one of my gloomier shoots. I love the dark mood in this shoot, yet it is all very pretty. I have been experimenting with different backgrounds lately, I must say black is not very popular when it comes to shooting florals but it creates drama like no other.

Can you spot the difference ;)

I was playing around with brightness post shoot, and noticed how both pictures had completely different mood simply because of increased brightness in the second one. But I absolutely love the first one, the flowers almost look like a Renaissance painting.

This is from last week, but I wanted to add it as another example of dark background

So here we go folks, I promise a much more cheerful post for tomorrow..nothing but colour in sight!

Waiting for Spring..Flowers and pretty finds!

We are finally seeing some change in weather  these days. Today is exceptionally beautiful, sun is shining, subtle breeze, and the snow is finally melting! However, no blooms in sight, and probably won't be for another few weeks. Temperature is steady going up but nowhere near spring like yet. So I got myself some blooms to make the wait more bearable! There is something so magical about Peonies, they are wrapped so tight and as they start to bloom and layers unfold, you can't help but be in awe of mother nature.

Beautiful find #1: Have I mentioned how I raided Lowe's the other day. I walked in there to grab one paint chip by Pantone, and next thing I know I was grabbing every colour! I was starting to worry that someone was going to come up to me and tell me to leave as I felt like I was stealing something! But really with all the beautiful shades, how can you not grab all these pretty Pantone paint chips.

Beautiful find #2: Striped Paper Straws. They are so pretty.. I found one or two colours at Target, but it wasn't until I walked into Michael's that I found every colour imaginable, and all for $3.00 for a pack of 8! I think bought about 6 different colours. I can't wait to have BBQs and perhaps use a diff colour every weekend!

Beautiful find #3: Now all the beauty bloggers are probably thinking this is old news, but my jaw just dropped when I saw these lovely nail polish bottles by Revlon. Not only are they super cute, the colours are simply gorgeous and best of all, each nail polish has a unique fragrance! I love that my nails not only look pretty but smell so sweet!

And now I will leave you with some more shots of one of my favorite flowers.
