White bedrooms, aren't they beautiful? After a long day at work, we all just want to escape to our own personal oasis, and nothing is more calming than a beautiful White bedroom. Trouble is, a white bedroom can look a bit cold, and you don't want a cold room with no personality at the end of the day. It should be cozy and it should reflect who you are. I have gathered a few bedrooms that would reflect different personalities. I, for example, am mostly a romantic, but sharing my bedroom with the husband wouldn't allow me to go all flowers and butterflies everywhere. We both like to travel, so a white bedroom with a travel theme would work for both of us. (I use the word "theme" loosely, no bedroom should have an obvious theme, it should just reflect your true personality).
Before you start decorating your home, it is important to know what your style is. Best way to find out is through Pinterest. Just Pin whatever appeals to you, then sit back and analyze the common thread between all the pictures. It is a great tool to really figure out your own decor personality!
So, let's get started! I have listed 10 Decor Personalities below, see who you are!
Eclectic: You like a little bit of everything. You like a calm pallet, but with a twist. You like drama of the dark accessories, and aged look of radiator heating. You like mixing vintage with modern, antiques with Lucite. You crave visual interest in your space.
Tips: Mixing textures and time periods can be tricky, but stay consistent. Stick to 2 themes and repeat through out the room. If you like antiques, have about 2-3 pieces that look aged, and then contrast with 2 pieces that are minimalist-modern. If you like patterns, add 2 patterns max and ground it with simple white or black.
Fashionista: Your life revolves around your wardrobe. Your clothes and shoes are Art to you. Shoes and accessories are a must for any outfit.
Tips: Keep your decor neutral and minimalist. Stick to warm shades in bedding, and add 1 conversation piece. Display your jewelry in beautiful trays on the side table or dresser. Show off your shoe collection with beautiful shelving.
Live Colorfully: You love punches of colour. You like having bright colours in your living space and your wardrobe. You are not afraid to wear yellow or orange!
Tips: Keep your walls white, and furniture simple. Create and neutral backdrop for your colourful personality. Use various accessories, such as art and throws to add colour to your room. Best part is you can use any colour you like and it can be changed easily when you get tired of it.
Romantic: You love feminine patterns and delicate fabrics. You love flowers, and can't get enough of Pink (at least I can't!). You gravitate towards lace and tulle.
Tips: Add a wall of feminine wall paper. Bedding should be soft and luxurious but keep it white, ("romantic" can quickly turn into "girly" with the wrong colour). Add details to pillows, or have 1-2 throw cushions. Flowers on the bedside are a must!
Traveler: You love to visit exotic places. You are always planning your next get away. You bring back artifacts for your home from every country you visit.
Tips: When buying souvenirs for home on your travels, keep it neutral. It is easy to buy colorful trays and pots but it is hard to make it work in your space. Neutral works with everything. Keep the walls white, floors dark and display your treasures all around your home.
Hotel Chic: You love crisp clean lines. You want personality in your room but also appreciate simplicity. You are all about function.
Tips: Add decorative molding on the walls. Good quality sheets are a must to pull this look together. Simple furnishings and de-cluttered side tables are essential. Keep it monochromatic, pair white with navy blue or black, or pair beige with browns for a neutral earthy look.
Modern Artist: You like bold geometric patterns. You like art and decorative objects.
Tips: Go bold or go home! Create a statement wall with a large graphic pattern. Keep the furnishings minimal, or mid-century to add contrast. Any color or shade will work, just keep it neutral overall to not overwhelm the eye.
Traditionalist: You love everything traditional. Antique paintings and furniture are what you crave in your space.
Tip: Dark wood, hand carved pieces are must have for this look. Aged picture frames in gold, and grand mirrors complete this space beautifully.
Minimalist: You find tranquility in simplicity. Calm monochromatic spaces with minimal furnishings are what you desire.
Tip: Keep it simple but not cold. This theme is the hardest to pull off, so add texture and personality to the space. Make your side table an antique and paint it white. Your headboard should be soft and cozy to off-set the all white crisp look. Adding textured pillows help finish the look.
Art Dealer: You love a beautiful gallery wall that tells a story. You can't stand bare walls. You collect prints and painting wherever you go.
Tip: Stick to a theme. Pick a colour for your room and only add one more colour or shade to it. Neutral is easy to do and it is calming to the eye, especially with a large gallery wall. Black and white are a good option for the modernist. Make sure your furnishings reflect your wall decor. If you like antique and aged photographs, keep the furnishings rustic as well. If you like black and white photography, frame them in black/white and silver/gold frames but keep the furniture modern and clean lined.
